Day 33: Light in the tunnel

Created in Artrage 2.5 using a Wacom Intuos 3

The ordinary expression is "Light at the end of the tunnel" but here there's some light in the tunnel too. That doesn't necessarily mean that everything is bright and clear, but it does mean that it's enough light to continue walking towards the light at the end of the tunnel.

Day 32: Harmony in F dur

Created in openCanvas 4.5 using a Wacom Intuos 3

I don't really know enough about music to tell whether this is F dur or something else =) but I do know that "Harmony in F dur" is a better title than "Harmony in yellow dur" which was my first choice. (Especially since the final result turned out not to be very yellow at all)

Day 31: Biker bird

Created in Inkscape 0.45.1 using a Wacom Intuos 3

"From the bicycle championship for birds we bring you 'Biker bird', the new sensation. With victories ranging from the prestigious downhill race 'Mt Chekov stop-when-you-drop' to the little league 'Mrs Johnson race for the face' he's now taking on the world elite and with very good results I got to tell you. Give him a big welcome!"

Day 30: Santa?

Created in openCanvas 4.5 using a Wacom Intuos 3

Yay! 30 days! That's a regular month, and, to celebrate that, this is the first day when I post a slightly larger version as a preview, I think the previous one is a bit small so I'll try this for now.

And in case someone is worried that the bottom frame is covering anything interesting I can calm you down by saying that it's not :)

Day 29: Djungle light

Created in openCanvas using a Wacom Intuos 3
(Though the part at the bottom is created in Inkscape)

This was an experiment where I tried to experiment with a few grayscale shapes and tried to make a colorful and interesting image just using filters. I think the experiment was successful, what do you think?

Day 28: Lightning

Created in Artrage 2.5 using a Wacom Intuos 3

Playing a bit with the effects and features of Artrage, took a few tries before I got it to be the way I wanted it to, but in the end I'm pretty satisfied with it. If I do something similar again I'll do the cloud in a different color from the background too, but at the moment it's a fairly nice effect that it's only the lightning bolt that is in another color.

Day 27: Oh well

Created in Artrage 2.5 using a Wacom Intuos 3

The "Oh well" in the title is not a sign that I don't like this picture but rather a pun. The effect is a bit 3D-looking and thus the "well" :)

Day 26: Rabbit and butterfly

Created in Artrage 2.5 using a Wacom Intuos 3

A quick experiment. And please click the image above to see it larger, it's hard to see in this small size.

Day 25: There will come a Day

Created in Artrage 2.5 using a Wacom Intuos 3

Not 100% sure about having the text there, but it is a bit empty without it so it stays :)

In case you have trouble seeing some of the letter this is what it says:
A new morning,
amidst the chaos.
Order or disorder,
the future will tell.
Will we see the light,
or are we blind.
The Day will come.

Day 24: A rough start

Created in openCanvas 4.5 using a Wacom Intuos 3

I find that this one gets better when looking at it more than once, but perhaps I'm just slow =)

Day 23: A marked appearance

Created in openCanvas 4.5 using a Wacom Intuos 3

Mainly just a fun experiment, but in case one wants to it's easy to find symbolism in it.

Day 22: Drinking horns

Created in openCanvas 4.5 using a Wacom Intuos 3

One thing is for sure, the most important thing in art is to be able to see. This, and many of the other paintings, begun as just a few lines which I though looked like something, in this case Viking era drinking horns, and which I then "made visible". This is not to be seen as an endorsement of irresponsible drinking of course ;) (The horns are empty after all).

Day 20: Bright orbit

Created in openCanvas 4.5 using a Wacom Intuos 3
An experiment with layers and filters. It was also a try to make something more "wallpaper like".

Day nineteen: Old crab bot

Created in Artrage 2.5.19 using a Wacom Intuos 3

He's not necessarily old in that sense, it's more that I was aiming for an "old" style. You know the way people thought robots would look like in the 50s-60s or so.

Day eighteen: Look into my eyes

Created in openCanvas 4.5 using a Wacom Intuos 3
And yeah, I'm aware that it's just one eye :) But I thought this was a better title.

Day seventeen: Inner glow

Created in openCanvas 4.5 using a Wacom Intuos 3

I'm not sure I've achieved the "inner glow" that the name talks of, but I like this picture in any case. It's not perfect, but I should know by now that I can't expect perfection from a quick little drawing/painting like this.

Day sixteen: Over the sky (in two versions)

Created in openCanvas 4.5 using a Wacom Intuos 3Created in GIMP 2.4.4 using a Wacom Intuos 3

The two versions are made in two different programs. The first one is made using a program called openCanvas, and when I'd made it I thought "why not try to recreate it using GIMP". So that's what I did, and here you can see the two versions. They're slightly different
, but while I like the first one better they both have their good sides :)

Day fifteen: Onion

Created in openCanvas 4.5 using a Wacom Intuos 3

Simple, but elegant. :)

Sunday, February 10, 2008

Day fourteen: La luna

Created in openCanvas 4.5 using a Wacom Intuos 3

"La luna" is Spanish for "the moon".

Saturday, February 9, 2008

Day thirteen: Dots

Created in openCanvas 4.5 using a Wacom Intuos 3
Some parts of this I really like, other parts I don't like at all. In any case it was a fun experiment and to me that's one of the most important aspects of this little project of mine.

Friday, February 8, 2008

Day twelve: Carne Vale

Created in openCanvas 4.5 using a Wacom Intuos 3

I started out with the "v-like" shape and the eyes and ended up with this. Since it reminds me of a carneval mask I've called it Carne Vale.

Thursday, February 7, 2008

Day eleven: Accident at Mister Frankensteins

Created in openCanvas 4.5 using a Wacom Intuos 3
Not sure what this is, but it seemed like something from Dr Frankensteins laboratories, and thus the title. It's a monster who tries very hard to be scary, but in the end just get ridiculed.

Day ten: Candles in the sea

Created in openCanvas 4.5 using a Wacom Intuos 3
A crazy idea, but could probably be symbolic in some way or another :)

Tuesday, February 5, 2008

Day nine: Cartoon earth

Created in openCanvas 4.5 using a Wacom Intuos 3

Another "cartoony" drawing.

Monday, February 4, 2008

Day eight: Mortimer

Created in openCanvas 4.5 using a Wacom Intuos 3

As a pun on the word morte and other similar words this friendly creature is called Mortimer.

Sunday, February 3, 2008

Day seven: Temple

Created in openCanvas 4.5 using a Wacom Intuos 3

I haven't exactly measured how long it's taken me to make any of these images, but this has got to be the one that's taken the most time to finish thus far. I'm fairly sure the perspective is wrong in several places and so on, but I really like it. (It's fairly simple, but I still recommend that you click on it to see a slightly larger version as it's kinda hard to see things on this small preview.)

Day six: Vanity II

Created in openCanvas 4.5 using a Wacom Intuos 3
No, this is not number two in a series, I just thought adding two to the title made it better. I could be wrong, but well, it's not that important anyway :) Hope you enjoy it nevertheless.

Day five: Flower

Created in openCanvas 4.5 using a Wacom Intuos 3
One of my personal favorites thus far. Deceptively simple, but still interesting enough to make you look at it twice.
